We are seeking a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about fostering a fair and positive working environment that encourages robust communication between staff and leaders. As the successful candidate, you will  partner with our hospital’s leaders in supporting best practices on people management and support. You will coach and guide on employee and labour relations, support leave management and attendance awareness support for both staff and leaders and drive recruitment. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Business Partner provides a full range of value-added People Services to an assigned client group. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide proactive Human Resource planning and advice within assigned program areas to support client achievement of operational and workforce objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support in complex employee and labour relations issues including collective agreement interpretation and application of employment legislation & Hospital policies. This includes leading the grievance process, supporting local negotiations, and supporting day to day labour relations (Labour Management Meetings, Hospital Association Committee, etc.).
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints and labour relations matters, including providing recommendations.
  • Identify training in collaboration with the Learning & Development team on the needs for leaders/staff in relation to people services programs such as performance conversations, ethical discipline, investigations, etc.
  • Participate and support leaders from a people services perspective regarding budget meetings.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both employees and managers, addressing their needs and concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent, tailored to specific role requirements.
  • Lead talent acquisition and onboarding processes, ensuring seamless transitions for new hires while actively engaging in interviewing, writing job descriptions, and managing recruitment.
  • Maintain the Attendance Awareness Program, providing guidance and support in managing employee absences, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, education, and experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a specialization in Human Resources Management (HRM) or in a related field, from an accredited university or a diploma and associated experience.
  • CHRP or eligible for candidacy preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in leading workplace investigations, including harassment investigations. Workplace investigations certificate preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in Human Resources providing independent employee and labour relations advice, guidance, and effective solutions in support of client needs. Demonstrated success in application of people related policies and legislation. Experience in a unionized setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in talent acquisition methodologies, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing, with a proven track record of successful hires and building strong candidate pipelines.
  • Collaborative mind-set that values strong performance and accountability, open and honest communication and demonstrates integrity, respect, and fairness.
  • Strong client focus, supported by an acute awareness and sensitivity to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for all individuals involved.
  • Experience in supporting clients to address and manage performance, with specific examples of successful interventions.
  • Self-directed learner, with the ability to exercise independent decision making and problem-solving.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and computer skills, coupled with the capacity to thrive under pressure in a high-volume setting. Familiarity with time & attendance, applicant tracking systems, and HRIS systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in working autonomously and collaboratively within a team, adept at managing multiple priorities in a complex environment.

HOURS OF WORK

Temporary Full Time (18 months). Hours of operation of People Services are typically Monday through Friday 0800 to 1600hrs. At GBGH, we prioritize work-life balance, valuing our employees' well-being. Where possible we can provide flexibility in working hours to accommodate a variety of schedules and support individual life commitments. Similarly at times flexible scheduling may be required to respond to organizational pressures such as investigations or events.
